Matt Farrell is currently a senior in the Architectural Engineering Program at The Pennsylvania State University. He plans to graduate in May, 2017 receiving a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree with a focus on structural systems. During the summer after his sophomore year, Matt worked as an intern for The Port Authority of NY & NJ on the World Trade Center site. After his junior year he enrolled in the Penn State Architectural Engineering Study Abroad China program where he spent seven weeks taking four different classes around the country with a number of other students from the AE major. After his 4th year interned at 84 Components where he traveled across the U.S. learning about the wood construction industry from the suppliers perspective, and after his 5th he worked for IBM Corp. providing IT educational services for IBM's Production Procurement applications. All of these experiences have been invaluable learning experiences for Matt helping him develop his knowledge of the construction industry and teaching him how to be able to adapt to a number of different areas and cultures opening his eyes to world outside of what he knows.

This year Matt plans to take the FE exam and become EIT eligible so that once he graduates with his degree he can become an Engineer in Training and be one step closer to gaining his Professional Engineer license. Matt’s goals for his life after graduation is to work in the U.S. for a number of years, developing his skills as a Structural Engineer and then be able to work for an international firm opening up his possibilities of taking his career outside of the United States into cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Dubai where he can push his engineering abilities and his life past the realm of American culture.
